Infinities
I used to be jealous of young couples. Filled with the fire of youthful love, They seemed invincible in the moment When they were together, even time stood still in awe Every second drawn out into an infinity lost in each other’s eyes But now I’m more impressed by old lovers Those tired souls who took their spark and forged it into an evergreen hearth Warming each other through decades past Even when the petty arguments began, adoration for the other never disappeared A love that is enduring and yet still effervescent Time didn’t stop for these two, it went on, watching as two imperfect mortals conquered every obstacle thrown in their path And when the curtain call comes, the pair could hold each other one last time Content that they filled a definite lifetime, with an infinity that was theirs to keep.
